Minutes from the Unhurried Committee

The Unhurried Committee around the club-room table: Sir Montgomery, Percival Hootington, Admiral Slowmere, Lord Edgar Blackquill and Duke Stripeshire.

The Unhurried Committee met in the west room, where the light is kind to paper and unkind to haste. Admiral Slowmere occupied the chair. Percival Hootington took the minutes. Sir Montgomery confirmed that the fire had been laid, and that nobody was to poke it without cause.

The agenda, such as it was, concerned the proper interval between a proposal and a decision. The Admiral observed that some intervals are ornamental, and some are load-bearing. Lord Edgar, writing throughout, asked that this distinction be preserved in the minutes.

Duke Stripeshire arrived when the lamps were already kind, and sat as if the chair had been expecting him. His report from the club rooms was received and filed.

The meeting closed when the lamps were trimmed. No vote was taken. None was required.
