A letter concerning seasonal dress

Lord Longstride, Admiral Slowmere and Percival Hootington at a desk with coats, hats, ribbons and letters on seasonal dress.

The Correspondent has circulated a letter to the members on the subject of seasonal dress. It is, he insists, not a decree. It is a set of observations, offered in the spirit of the house.

Coats should be warm. Hats should be considered. Ribbons may be worn if they can survive a walk from the gate to the club-room without becoming a conversation in themselves. The Admiral is exempt from this last point whenever a bicorne is involved.

Lord Longstride has already begun a list of exceptions. Percival Hootington has begun a list of the list. The Admiral has asked that both lists be left on the table until they have had time to think about themselves.
